Broken Oil Pump Belt Hampers Mars in Red Clay Classic

SEPTEMBER 29, 2024 - - - After suffering mechanical woes during qualifying on Thursday in the ‘Silver 1000’ at Proctor Speedway in Proctor, Minnesota, Sammy Mars and his Mars Racing team invaded ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin on September 27-28 for the 49th Annual ‘Red Clay Classic.’  During his heat race on Friday evening, Sammy drove past four competitors to land in the second finishing position.

When Saturday rolled around at the Badger State venue, Sammy started the 50-lap main event from the outside of the fourth row.  Unfortunately, a broken oil pump belt slowed the Menomonie, Wisconsin star early in the $6,000 to win contest and Sammy was relegated to a disappointing twenty-second place performance.  Complete results from the ‘Red Clay Classic’ can be viewed online by clicking on www.abcraceway.com.
