MARCH 31, 2024 - - - The 2024 campaign for the Mars Racing team heated back up over the March 29-30 weekend in the inaugural 'Nippy 50' at Maquoketa Speedway in Maquoketa, Iowa. The unsanctioned Super Late Model doubleheader kicked off on Friday night with a $10,000 to win opener. In his first event since Vado back in January, Sammy Mars placed fifth in his stacked heat race before moving up one spot during the 40-lap feature to land a thirteenth place performance.
On Saturday evening at Maquoketa Speedway, the #28 team vied for the $20,000 top prize in the 'Nippy 50' grand finale. Sammy knocked down the sixteenth quickest time overall during the qualifying session before once again finishing fifth in his loaded heat race. Unfortunately, the Menomonie, Wisconsin youngster was an early retiree during the 50-lapper and was ultimately paid for an eighteenth place showing.
