Sammy Mars Wraps Up Wild West Shootout Miniseries at Vado

JANUARY 15, 2024 - - - The #28 Mars Racing team and young driver Sammy Mars concluded the annual ‘Wild West Shootout’ in the final four miniseries events from January 10-14 at Vado Speedway Park in Vado, New Mexico.  While Sammy unfortunately missed out on the $11,000 to win features on Friday and Saturday, he was able to put his MB Customs mount into the main event on the other two occasions this week.  On Wednesday evening with an $11,000 paycheck up for grabs, Sammy finished seventh in his heat race, third in his B-Main, and fourteenth in the 30-lap headliner.

In Sunday’s grand finale, which boasted a whopping $26,000 top prize, Sammy started off his night by clicking off the fifteenth fastest lap in Group A during qualifying before placing eighth in his stacked heat race.  After grabbing the fourth and final transfer spot through his B-Main, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace rolled off from the inside of the twelfth row in the 50-lapper.  Sammy was then able to steer past seven competitors during his final race in the desert to earn a sixteenth place performance.  Complete results from the unsanctioned ‘Wild West Shootout’ can be located online by pointing your web browser to www.vadospeedwaypark.com.
