SEPTEMBER 1, 2024 - - - Next up for the Mars Racing team was a visit to 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa on August 30-31 for the annual running of the ‘Yankee Dirt Track Classic.’ The XR Super Series sanctioned the two-day spectacular, which kicked off on Friday night with a $15,000 to win shootout. Sammy Mars grabbed the fourth transfer spot through his heat race prior to starting the 40-lap main event from the inside of the sixth row. Sammy was ultimately able to pick off a pair of competitors during the weekend opener to finish ninth at the unfurling of the checkered flag.
On Saturday evening at Farley, a whopping $50,000 first place prize was up for grabs for the ground-pounding Super Late Models. Sammy started and finished fifth in his heat race and later rolled off from the inside of the seventh row in the 60-lap headliner. Unfortunately, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace was an early retiree in the contest and was eventually paid for a twentieth place effort.
